Product description

Jiří Slíva is a Czech graphic artist, painter, and illustrator who focuses primarily on cartoon humor. He lent his magic to the Czech Mint's silver medal.

From Dikobraz magazine, Jiří Slíva worked his way up to creating for prestigious periodicals such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Die Zeit, Die Welt, Le Monde, and Playboy. What is behind the global success of this cartoonist, who has won numerous international awards for his work? Above all, his subtle, gentlemanly humor, which makes viewers smile and at the same time reflect on human nature. Jiří Slíva's world is full of human weaknesses and everyday absurdities – seemingly ordinary situations that turn into unexpectedly comical paradoxes. His minimalist style gives a simple impression, but on closer inspection reveals a thoughtful, ironic depth. However, it never crosses over into cynicism – on the contrary, it sparkles with kindness, which is in short supply these days...

Jiří Slíva is not only a visual artist. He is also a songwriter and guitarist. He loves jazz and blues, which is why he chose his work entitled I love Blues as the motif for his colored medal. On the obverse side, you will find a dog listening intently to music coming from an antique gramophone. The reverse side, which humorously refers to the author's name, features a plum accompanied by his autograph.

The silver coin, which comes in special packaging, has a mintage of only 250 pieces.
