The fifth item in the popular Czech Mint’s series titled Fairy-tale world of Zdeněk Smetana is dedicated to two inseparable friends: Kuba Kubikula and his bear Kubula. The silver medal in proof quality commemorates the humorous TV bedtime stories in which they star.

The impish stories on the motives of the storybook by Czech writer Vladislav Vančura served as the basis for seven TV bedtime stories watched by several generations of small viewers. Their author Zdeněk Smetana started his career at Jiří Trnka in the film studio Bratři v triku, where he tried his talent on various projects but eventually inclined to children’s themes. The latter brought him fame at home as well as abroad.

Kubula and Kuba Kubikula is a sightly work of art made of pure silverfeaturingon the obverse both fairy tale characters in colour. On thereverse we can see a subtle collage comprising other Smetana’s animated characters and the title of the entire fairy-tale series.
