The Czech Mint's silver medal combines the magical power of the mysterious mandala with the beauty of rhodochrosite.

Indian spiritual tradition teaches that there are seven energy centers in the human body, known as chakras. In order for a person to feel calm and balanced, the energy in these vortexes must flow freely. Mandalas can help us achieve this. The word mandala comes from ancient Indian Sanskrit and can be translated simply as circle. However, its meaning is not so simple – it represents infinity, perfection, balance, and unity. Mandalas take the form of a circular shape with a center from which – or into which – symmetrically arranged shapes radiate. The power of each mandala is hidden in its center, where everything begins and ends, and so a rhodochrosite is set in the middle of this medallion. This unique mineral, characterized by its pink or reddish in color with white veins, is attributed with a number of magical properties – it opens the heart, improves interpersonal relationships, helps to understand the needs of others and oneself, dispels loneliness, attracts love, and brings kindred spirits together... Although people associate mandalas primarily with the civilizations of South Asia, variations of them can be found across times, cultures, and religious and philosophical systems – just look at the windows of European cathedrals or the dream catchers of American Indians. They represent a tool for relaxation, meditation, and self-discovery, but also for problem solving and wish fulfillment. The obverse side of the medal, designed by medallist Petra Brodská, DiS., features a high relief accentuated by patina and coloring. A cut rhodochrosite is set in the center of the ornament, which resembles a blooming flower. The medal is primarily an original talisman and gift for any occasion. The mintage is limited to 300 pieces numbered on the edge.
