We only realize its true meaning when it begins to diminish and we start to suffocate... When did humans actually gain true freedom? A clue is offered by the biblical story of the Garden of Eden, where the first humans – Adam and Eve – lived in perfect harmony with nature and God, but despite the prohibition, Eve picked an apple from the Tree of Knowledge. This act is usually seen as a sign of disobedience – an inability to follow the rules. On the other hand, however, Eve's act can be seen as an expression of independent decision-making – an individual choice with all its good and bad consequences. The moment Eve reached for the forbidden fruit, she ceased to be a mere passive figure. She became an active architect of her own destiny – an emancipated being who stepped out of her subordinate role and became free...

The reverse side of the coin depicts a beautiful woman reaching out for the apple. The unusual irregular shape of the coin mirrors the strands of her restless hair, which can also be found on the obverse side. As the coin is issued with the foreign license of the island of Niue, its obverse side also bears the island's national emblem and the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD). The composition is supplemented with the logo of the manufacturer, Le Grand Mint.
