Product description
The opposites yin and yang, which represent two parts of a whole, inspired this unique silver coin from CIT Coin Invest.
Taoism, which is both a Chinese philosophical school and a religion, speaks of the interconnectedness of opposites—forces that are opposite yet complementary. The concept known as Yin and Yang can be expressed using the traditional symbol of Tai Chi Tzu. At first glance, it appears to be a circle divided into two halves. Upon closer inspection, however, we discover that the black and white parts blend seamlessly, and each contains the seed of the other. Many believe this is a graphic representation of the struggle between good and evil, but this notion is highly simplified. In reality, it represents a dynamic balance, in which the forces of the world are constantly transforming, balancing, interdependent, and giving meaning to one another. Without darkness, we would not recognize light; without rest, we would lack the energy to act. Ancient Chinese teachings thus remind us that harmony does not arise from suppressing one side, but from accepting both…
The reverse side of the coin, based on the Tai Chi symbol, is divided into day and night. Clouds flow from one part of the day into the other. While the moon shines in the sky at night, it is hidden during the day. All of this is depicted in high relief. Since the coin is issued by the island Republic of Palau, the obverse side bears its attributes—the national emblem and the face value of $5 (USD).
The mintage consists of 999 pieces placed in an elegant frame, in which you can display the coin.
