Bečov nad Teplou is the ninth castle, which appears on a gold coin from the thematic cycle of the Czech National Bank. The issue with a nominal value of 5,000 CZK was minted in quality standard.

The history of Bečov nad Teplou dates back to the 14th century. One of the best-preserved Czech castles was the center of the manor, where silver, sheet metal and other metals were mined, and protected an important crossroad of land routes. Although its importance declined over the centuries, it was restored in 1985 when the reliquary of St. Maurus was found under the floor of the castle chapel. The value of a luxurious box with the remains of saints, which originated in Romanesque times in Belgium, is incalculable and comparable perhaps only with our coronation jewels. The unique monument of European significance has been restored and today it is an integral part of the Bečov historical area, where it can be admired by people from all over the world.

The medal maker Luboš Charvát became the author of the commemorative coin. The obverse side presents partial motifs from the reliquary of St. Maurus. On the reverse side, there is the entire castle complex with a Baroque chateau and garden.
