Gold coin 1 Oz Ganesha

The weight of the gold coin, which features the Hindu god Ganesha, is one troy ounce.

A human body, an elephant’s head, a broken tusk, four arms, a large belly… Ganesha’s appearance may bring a smile to one’s face, but in reality he is an influential deity who is held in the highest regard by a billion Hindus and other believers. This god, who at first glance seems almost like a fairy-tale character, in fact harbours profound wisdom and power. He is the lord of new beginnings and obstacles, which he both creates and removes. His large ears listen to the prayers of the world – thanks to them, Ganesha can watch over every step we take and show us which way to go when it seems there is no path at all. Although Ganesha is depicted as playful and affable, his power is extraordinary – he protects against rashness and pride, helps us overcome our inner demons and gives us the courage to start afresh. Though his body is heavy, his spirit is light. Although he is a lover of good food, he embodies self-control. Hidden within his belly lies the entire universe, with all its joys and sorrows…

On the reverse side of the coin you will find a characteristic depiction of a seated Ganesha with all his essential attributes. The axe serves to remove obstacles. The lotus is a symbol of purity and spiritual awakening. The broken staff symbolises the sacrifice that must be made if we are to attain knowledge. Modak is a traditional sweet that represents the fruit of wisdom. The Om symbol represents a powerful mantra for overcoming challenges. The relief also features a mouse, which is Ganesha’s traditional companion and symbolises faith in a higher power. As the coin is issued under licence by a foreign issuer, namely the island of Niue, its obverse side bears the requisite attributes – the national coat of arms, the nominal value of 250 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2026.

The mintage of this coin by T&S Coin is limited to just 50 pieces.
